The natural lifecycle of the Küçükçekmece Lagoon Basin, which has a fragile and complex ecosystem, is now threatened by the pressures of urbanisation. In this context, the design proposal aims to define a new form of relationship between urban life and nature. This form of symbiotic relationship proposes an action plan to establish the unity of city and nature. The action plan addresses the negative impacts of the urban fabric in this region on nature and their consequences. It also proposes solutions to all these results.
The design problem in the competition is about how to relate to nature while expanding the boundaries of the cities we live in today. A design strategy has been proposed to solve the problem, in which water, greenery and playgrounds play the main roles. In the memory of the city dweller, sitting in the shade of a tree or resting by the water’s edge means satisfying the most basic needs of public space. Beyond rent and commercial concerns, the proposal developed in this direction proposes a simple but strong urban relationship. In the design, urban life and different lifestyles are brought together through the creation of a buffer zone between the river and the lakeshore greenway. Buffer zone; it includes agricultural areas, gardens, wooded areas, bushes, pastures, woods, beach and sandy beach.
