The aim of this project is to transform the urban potential of Ä°ncesu Stream, Abdi Ä°pekçi Park and KurtuluÅŸ Park, which have urban memory, into stronger connections and interesting public spaces with a comprehensive transformation proposal. This design proposes a new urban-public spatial continuity. It will contribute to the daily life of the city with its changing and transforming spaces in the continuity of green. In order to create this spatial continuity, in addition to the Ä°ncesu stream, spatial equipment has been designed that will differentiate the place, such as protecting the existing greenery, creating different elevations to prevent flooding, creating spaces that will be the source of action, making the green/trees a dominant element. The design has been developed with a different perspective on the spatiality of the marketplace and the revitalisation of the old centre. A design strategy has been adopted in which water, green and action areas play the leading roles. In the proposed new public space, some interactions will strengthen the life bond of citizens with each other thanks to actions/situations such as encounters, intersections and communication. In this context, it is aimed that the proposed public space will contribute to the daily life of the city of Ankara by closing the design area to vehicular traffic and opening it to pedestrian use. The design transforms the city centre into an alternative public space. It is expected to be a “new place of public commemoration” that establishes new patterns of life.
