FUTURENEST

The proposed design 'FUTURENEST' aims to present the continuity of life with a realistic attitude by internalising the culture of the region against the possible energy and raw material crises in the future. If we look at the urban structure in Dubai, although the city is built on a desert, the desert is not felt in the urban life in the city centre. In the proposed design, which integrates with the desert texture, that is, the context of the project; instead of garden walls that form privacy and plot boundaries in the region, the walls of the buildings, which are fragmented according to the programmes and life scenarios, form the perception of boundaries. The building units based on the plot boundary are organised in a way to create internal spaces, i.e. courtyards, in the project area. In these spaces, it is possible to experience the desert and relate to the context. The project has the ability to expand and add to the property in an affordable manner, thanks to the layout and innovative construction techniques proposed.

1-INNOVATIVE USE OF LOCAL MATERIALS

A) The walls of the building are proposed to be constructed with soil obtained from the project area. The use of sustainable, locally sourced materials is emphasised with the mixed construction technique of rammed earth and reinforced concrete.

B) Compressed soil is also used in furniture and accessories such as cedar, armchair, coffee table, lighting in the interior.

C) In the landscape design, locally sourced natural stone cladding and plants growing in the region are proposed.

D) The sun shades designed in the building are produced by using the dried trunk shells of date palms in the region.

2-FARMING

It is aimed to contribute to the food cycle by growing plants such as coriander, mint, basil, sage and thyme that can grow in the region on the agricultural terraces we have built on the roofs of the masses.

HARVEST AND REUSE

A) SOLAR ENERGY

The proposed solar panels on the roof will cover the electricity needs of the house. In addition, a charging unit for electric cars and bicycles is proposed in the garage. Daily drinking water will also be produced by breaking down organic molecules with the energy obtained from solar energy.

B)WIND / COOLING

Band ventilation windows were designed on the upper level on the opposite walls of the windows facing the courtyard, i.e. the interior facade. In this way, the heated air rises and goes out naturally, and the house is cooled by natural air currents.

C) Harvesting drinking water from the atmosphere

The solar-powered device we installed on the roof, which produces drinking water by collecting water vapour from the atmosphere, can collect water continuously for 24 hours even in deserts where the humidity in the air is extremely low. The device is located in the storage.

D)Organic waste collection

It is proposed to use the organic waste of the house in agricultural terraces by converting them into fertilizer.

E)GREY WATER SYSTEM

The water used in the sinks, showers and kitchen will be re-treated and used in the irrigation system and reservoirs.
